End of year - Showreel Part 03

This is my 3rd blogspot post of my showreel
Today (November 27th 2015)
I continued working on the same animation that I am going to put in my showreel.
As of now I have finished with all the dialogue parts of the characters are done.
Today I have been working on the dialogue of Lailah ...
"Well, I see who runs this household"

and Sorey ...
" Can you guys not practice your comedy routines inside my head?"

Earlier in this personal project I did the dialogue animation of Edna.
I will combine her dialogue piece when I compile it all together.
Other than that it's almost at the end of this personal project for my showreel.

End of year - Showreel Part 01

This is my 1st blogspot post of my showreel
Today (November 24th 2015)

I continued working on a animation that I started doing 2 or 3 weeks ago.
The animation will be used as part of my showreel.
The animation itself is based on this ...
"Spoken like a true Meebo."
This link has the script that I am working off from.

I have done some character designs of them earlier

but the character themselves belonged to Tales of Zestiria and Bandai Namco Studios.
I'm a fan of the tales of series myself. These are for a Tales of Skits - Zestiria (Fanmade)
I'm thinking of doing in the future and the one I'm doing now are better than this dialogue piece I did last year
for fun ...
Th-thanks
All I did well was the lip sync itself. But I need to work on a bit more on my acting.

So far I have managed to finish the 2nd part of Mikleo dialogue.
"It's Mikleo, alright. Mikleo!"
I still have 2 more diaogue parts left until I can finish his dialogue parts off.
Other than that all dialogue parts of Edna's are done.
But those will be posted out as animated gifs sometime this week.
Here's what it looks like on flash so far...

I'm working on each dialogue separate before combining all of it together.
Actually these are just a personal project I'm working on
just to practise on my acting and lip sync.

individual specialist project #194 - individual specialist project part 77

This is my 73rd blogspot post for our individual specialist project.

Continued from where I had left off ...

Today (November 23rd 2015) - Reflection Post

The design document
I had to restart the idea at the beginning since my first idea was for a fantasy rpg game
but I got bored with the idea halfway through.
As soon as I overcome that huddle I was able to think of another idea
to do for my project and that is how "Imperial chess" came to be.
The research
It took a while to find all the information that I need.
But to put it all together it was quite simple.
I started with the moodboards. Since I pretty much know
what the environments and style it's going to look like,
I was easy putting the images together. It goes for the same
when it comes to the characters, props and such.
I had a bit of a trouble working out the labeling for my Bibliography
since some of the images did not have a retrieved date on them.
I had to put the date of when i retrieved the images on it instead.
It was insteresting to find out information on it limitations
of a iphone, since that is the device I'm using for my project.

The kickstarter
When it comes to the making of the website,
I have to put all the research that I did all into one website.
Everything went smoothly expects for the pledge rewards
and the stretch goals. When I was working on those I have
a rough idea on what I want my rewards to be but I wasn't sure of
how to lay it all out. So I went to see some of the existing kickstarter projects
and have a glander on how they did theirs. From there I was able to move on with
the cost of the pledges and goals.

The pitch trailer
There were some issues that bothered me, when it comes
to the final export of the trailer. Especially with the sound volume.
Other issues involved are the screen size, to which I had to change them from
1136 x 670 to 1920 x 1080. I had issues with the export as well which take too long
to export from flash so I found another software (sviwel) to make it go faster and it did.

The animation (5 seconds animation)
I want to do more to the animation but
it will mean that I'll add more things to it.
In the idle pose animation I had to do 2 roughs
to get to the point that I want. In the first rough Cao cao
were moving his arms in a running posing to which he shouldn't be.
Instead he just need to move his body up and down.
The attack were a lot easier to do but I had some
troubles with the timing. In a attack animation the character attack
should be moving fast instead of moving slowly.
If I were to add more things to the animation
I will need to add how cao cao will be using his skills attack,
defend, using items and flee.

And that pretty much is it for my reflection post.

individual specialist project #193 - individual specialist project part 76

This is my 72nd blogspot post for our individual specialist project.

Continued from where I had left off ...

Today (November 20th 2015) - Post production
I continued working on the post production
for my pitch video trailer.

Today I forcused on the finish touches which is just
compiling the shots in After effects
Adding in the BGM using premiere
and exporting all of it out using adobe media encoder
it was a long progress moving up to this bit but
the pitch video trailer is all done and dusted.

 Reflection:
What went well ?
hard to say since it's mostly just the exporting.
What didn't went well?
I had to re-export the animation a couple of times
due to the file size and sound
(the sound was quiet at some stages
so I had to make it a bit more louder.)
It took a long time to export all of the shots off
from adobe flash as a png sequence
so i found another software called swivel
to make the progress more faster.

A full reflection on the whole project
of my individual specialist project
will be out sometime next week.

individual specialist project #192 - individual specialist project part 75

This is my 71st blogspot post for our individual specialist project.

Continued from where I had left off ...

Today (November 19th 2015) - Post production
I continued working on the post production
for my pitch video trailer.

Today I just forcused on re-sizing my shots
and re-exporting them from flash

but they were taking longer to export so I have
found a quicker way to do it by turning them into swf instead of a
png sequence.
These are the steps of how i exported out my files today ...
I changed the jpeg quality to 100 before i moved on to the sound settings.
After that I exported the file out as a swf.
From there I used a program called swivel to convert my swf files
into a mp4 file.
and that was a lot quicker than what i had done yesterday.

My step after this is to re-import them into after effects
and re-compile them into the final trailer (again)
hopefully this time the files work perfectly.

individual specialist project #191 - individual specialist project part 74

This is my 70th blogspot post for our individual specialist project.

Continued from where I had left off ...

Today (November 18th 2015) - Post production
I continued working on the post production
for my pitch video trailer.

Today I was able to finish re-animating
the text of introduction to the trailer.

From there I complied the shot and exported it out
in after effects.
It seems that when I exported it out
something didn't seem to the right with the sound files
to which i had to cut off some parts off to the dialogue and
the music itself was louder than it should be (lower than the dialogue).

When I sync the png files with the dialogue it was off
the animation was playing at 30 frames per second to which it was
supposed to be playing at 25 frames per seconds.
I exported the png files as 1920 x 1080 to which it supposed to be
the same file size as the flash file that way the
images will sync up to the dialogue perfectly

So currently  I am now  re-exporting
all the shots as png files in the right dimensions
and re-exporting them out again in after effects.

Plan for the rest of the day:
Is to re-export all the shots as pngs.
So that tomorrow I can re-import them into after effects
and have them sync up with the dialogue.
