Project Deity Academy Blog #26

This is my 5th blog post about Deity Academy, my first ever group project.
Today (March 26th 2015) I was able to finish the rough model sheet of Nezha
Nezha (Main character) Rough Turnaround sheet by me

And my director (Bryn) did some finish touches on him and coloured him in.
Nezha (Main character) Final Turnaround sheet by Bryn

Today I was also told to do some coloured tests of Ares (the Greek god of war)
Ares (Main character) Cleaned up model sheet by
Bryn (director) and Leigh (new producer)
Ares (Main character) coloured test by me
We all seem to like the one in red and tomorrow
I'll be able to upload the final turnaround sheet of Ares.

Plan for the rest of the day:
- save some energy for tomorrow set of work

I was able to draw some developed stylised concepts
for the monkey god  but I won't be able to upload until
a bit later.
Please look forward to the next blog post.

Project Deity Academy Blog #25

This is my 4th blog post about Deity Academy, my first ever group project.
Today (March 25th 2015) I was able to upload some concept designs for ...
Aphrodite, Ares and Monkey god

Ares (Main character)
A hot head guy who is the negative jock stereotype character - misogynistic and a bully.
He is unstable in the head area, that everybody is put off by,so nobody really get to
know him well.
Comments from teammates about him

Monkey god (background character)
A skilled warrior who has the ability to freeze people
and is cocky just like Nezha

Aphrodite (background character)
Goddess of love and beauty. She is friendly, calm and benevolent
but get annoyed at times
There isn't a lot of feedback about the "Monkey god" or "Aphrodite"
so I'll have to wait until there are more comments about the both of them.
Other than that Anubis is finalized now in style and coloured.
Nezha's final stylized concepts

Plan for the rest of the day:
- work on the model sheet for Nezha
2 versions (one with frills and the other without the frills).

Please look forward to the next blog post.

Project Deity Academy Blog #24

This is my 4th blog post about Deity Academy, my first ever group project.
Today (March 24rd 2015) I was able to do some concept designs for ...
Aphrodite, Ares and Monkey god
It seems that I won't be able to upload the concepts designs for all three of them, but I am able to write down some character description about them.

Aphrodite (background god)
Goddess of love and beauty. She is friendly, calm and benevolent
but get annoyed at times

Monkey god (background god)
A skilled warrior who has the ability to freeze people
and is cocky just like Nezha

Ares (main character)
A hot head guy who is the negative jock stereotype character - misogynistic and a bully.
He is unstable in the head area, that everybody is put off by,so nobody really get to
know him well.

Also I was able to finalised Nezha, but I did three more finalised stylised concept version
of him, so I think tomorrow (March 25th 2015) all the designs will be uploaded.

Plan for the rest of the day:
- save some energy for tomorrow set of work

Please look forward to the next blog post.

Project Deity Academy Blog #23

This is my 3rd blog post about Deity Academy, my first ever group project.
Today (March 23rd 2015) I was able to finish up some colour test for Anubis.
Anubis is a borderline goth - he is stoic and sarcastic - he keeps to himself, he's very quiet and prefers to listen - which makes him get along with the very talkative Nezha

Our group has decided on the far right as our final Anubis.
The director (Brynn) did the concept art of him and much more.

Plan for the rest of the day:
- will continue doing more concept designs for
background gods.

Please look forward to the next blog post.

Project Deity Academy Blog #22

This is my second blog post about Deity Academy, my first ever group project.
Yesterday (March 21st 2015) I have finished drawing up some of Nezha's facial expressions
in the stylized version, and today (March 22nd 2015) I have finished up some poses of him as well.
I have tried my best drawing him as I still can't draw him more exaggerated yet.
This is what I have done so far ...

Please look forward to the next blog post.

Project Deity Academy Blog #21

This is my first blog post about Deity Academy, my first ever group project.
The logline (a short one sentence summary) of the project is about different gods from different religions/cultures attend the same school. And so far I have completed Nezha's concept art and colour test.

Nezha's concept designs
Nezha's colour tests
The final design of Nezha hasn't been decided yet. So I have the weekend to play around (get used to) with the stylised version of nezha putting him in different poses and expression but not on model because I'll be needing some help from my director with that.

Things to do for the coming weekend
(if there's enough time to do it all. I doubt there will be time  my hands to do all of this. That's because I have a sleepover planned for this weekend)
1. do some expression design of Nezha using the concept design
in the stylised version
2.  do some poses of Nezha using the concept design
in the stylised version
3. start thinking about other background gods that can be added to the project.

Blog Update #05

My fifth blog update for just talking about the things I have done so far ...
It seems finally today (March 19th) I was able to finish my finalised rough pass.
Even though I only did some little changes to it. But yesterday (March 18th 2015)
I was to finish my exposure sheet of my dialogue to be used in my performance study.
A exposure sheet is ...

An exposure sheet (also referred to as camera instruction sheet, dope sheet or X-sheet) is a traditional animation tool that allows an animator to organize his thinking and give instructions to the cameraman on how the animation is to be shot (from wikipedia)

The exposure sheet of my dialogue to be used in my performance study

Reflection:
It seems in the first rough pass I have made few mistakes in there. The mistakes include his left arm keeps shrinking and growing and his right arm just keeps moving around a lot but I have corrected that. If I were to do this scene again I would just do some more drawings in the begining
and that would be because the movement was fast for me to soak it all in.
Below is my finalised rough pass 01.

I have also done some concept designs for NEZHA for my group project "Deity Academy"
but I won't be showing the designs until the colour test has been done.
Please stayed tuned for the upcoming new project ~ !
